Just use the semantically appropriate HTML element. It makes it easier for browser to advertise the GUI properly.

I'd say this is a sane rant. Indeed, there's more progress to do, it will probably never stop. What could stop though is throwing crap at the people who quietly put effort into making our desktops more accessible.
A bit focused on web frontend, but that applies equally to other stacks. There are many reasons to make UIs accessible.
A nice subset of HTML to ensure better accessibility and reduced complexity.
Some things we tend to not notice... the scroll bars need a way to be brought back and to be large for better accessibility.
This is an interesting use of the accessibility directive for better styling in web frontend code.
